1900 McKinley Roosevelt Gold Foil Jugate Campaign Button 1-3/16":
$60.00
Rare, authentic 1900 William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt Republican presidential campaign jugate button. This premium political celluloid measures an uncommon, specialized $1\ \frac{3}{16}$ inches (30mm) in diameter and showcases the highly coveted metallic gold background layout.
The History: Issued during the historic 1900 re-election cycle, this elegant jugate features President William McKinley alongside his iconic "Rough Rider" vice-presidential running mate, Theodore Roosevelt. Rather than using campaign text or slogans, the piece relies on its brilliant metallic gold leaf presentation to explicitly advertise the Republican party's fierce commitment to the "Sound Money" Gold Standard monetary platform. Because 1900 gold foil transfers are notoriously fragile and prone to blackening or flaking over time, clean surviving examples are highly prized by specialized Americana collectors.
