Good Condition. These 2 figurines are papier mache, basically formed from paper, wires and glue and mounted on wooden blocks. They were handmade and are folk art! There appears to be damage to the back of the farmer's tattered hat. He is the more fragile of the two figures so he may have fallen over or something. Please examine my pictures closely for their condition as I see no other evidence of damage.
The male figurine has a sticker marked World Bazaars. The female has no marks or stickers and her wooden block is smaller than the male's. These figurines are definitely vintage and likely are from the 1980s. The female figurine has a floral pattern on her clothes I had not noticed before! It is really pretty!
The female figurine measures 12 inches or 30.48 cm at its tallest point. The male figurine measures 13 1/4 inches or 33.66 cm at its tallest point.
The female figurine measures 4 1/2 inches or 11.43 cm side to side at its widest point. The male measures 6 1/2 inches or 16.51 cm at its widest point.
The female figurine measures 4 1/4 inches or 10.79 cm at its widest point from front to back. The male figurine measures 3 3/4 inches or 9.525 cm at its widest point from front to back.
These 2 figurines are elderly looking figures living a very basic life in rough clothing doing their daily chores. For some reason, they are strangely compelling and elegant to me. I really like them! I believe you will too!
