Offering this antique wooden oddity, for someone who appreciates primitive folk art unique pieces. This one is a part of a wooden jointed painted figure of an Asian/Chinese man.
It is the top section of what may have been an advertising sign or simply a jointed decorative piece in a Chinese restaurant or business at one time. It is made of wood and features an Asian man dressed in a red outfit and a cap or hat of an early probably Chinese style of dress.
The arms can be moved up and down slightly, by means of an iron nail in the figure’s back.

Obviously, there used to be other parts attached, but this is the only part that has survived through the years!
It appears likely that the outstretched arms may have at one time held a menu, object, or sign of some sort.
It is handmade and is done in a very primitive, folk art style. The back is left as unfinished wood, and has some paint marks on it . This was designed in a naive, rustic way, very simple and primitive. There is one old nail that holds the arms fastened to the body, and sticks straight out of the back, but I must leave it as is, to demontrate what this figure looks like. However, the buyer is cautioned to handle it with care as it is quite sharp and old. It could be easily replaced, if desired, with a better type of clasp attachment, but I will leave it as I found it, from part of an old estate, and the buyer may change it out for a more secure and more attractive clasp, one that would allow the arms to swing more freely.
The figure does not stand on its own, as it is now, and would have to be propped or held with a holder of some type. It would also make an interesting piece of wall art.

13” across the arms to ends of hands
10” high and
About 1.5” thick, not including the iron nail.
This is obviously very old, and the paint colors are a bit faded, but still colorful, The wood parts are solid, and it would make a very quirky and interesting decorative piece for a home or business, with a little TLC.
