Antique Anchor S. P. Co. Pair White Milk Glass Ink Wells with Ornate Metal LidsMade by Anchor Silver Plate Co in St. Paul, Minnesota. Exterior in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or staining. One inkwell has interior staining near the rim due to use. There is a flea bite area where it is likely a pen was tapped during use, leaving a small ink stained area. Production Details & History:• Manufacturer: Anchor Silver Plate Co. (St. Paul, MN).• Production Window: Exactly 1898–1905.
• The Design Setup: While these swirl milk glass bottles can look like freestanding vanity jars, the Anchor Silver Plate Co. specialized in manufacturing ornate metal-plated novelties, clocks, jewel boxes, and inkstands. These two bottles were originally part of a Victorian double inkwell desk set. They sat side-by-side inside a larger, highly decorative cast-metal or brass tray (often featuring ornate frames, animal motifs like stag heads, or cherubs).
• Lids: The beautifully tarnished lids feature classic late-Victorian embossed floral and acanthus leaf filigree motifs.
• The Interior: The inner green hue visible in the third photo indicates decades of leftover ink residue that has permanently stained or coated the inner well. Please message for more pictures or with questions. This item will be carefully packaged and shipped. Related Items:
