Here is a vintage deadstock roll of roughly 10 yards (in six pieces) of custom sewing labels, from the 1960s. They have been stored for many years. Each label is 1 3/16” by 2” including some space on the sides. I found a version of these in the SUNSET HOUSE mail order catalog from 1970, but they sold pinked cut versions with stamped custom names (15 for $1.00). You get much more here and can add your name however you like! Color is red and gold on creamy colored taffeta. I believe this roll was a "second" to not send to the customer (edge ripped by loom, possible oil blotches from loom, rare skipped stitches), but most of the labels here are completely usable! The spots have come out on some other labels I have washed, so it is possible.
There are labels with defects, I have not tried to clean. Luckily there are so many labels here, you can just cut off and toss the parts that don't work for you. I have tried to call out everything below.
The length is as follows:
first piece: about 12ft, couple of blotches only affecting 1-2 labels each, 1 weaving mistake, 1 edge tear
second piece just shy of 4ft, one tear
third piece: just over 2ft, one spot
fourth piece: just over 2ft, one run in stitching
fifth piece: just over 6ft, pretty good
sixth piece: about 4ft, has three damaged labels (spots) in the middle of the length)
There might be more faint marks. Hard to tell at all on this base color.
